KEEP THE HEAT FRAM PROJECT

Project

We completed the first round of thermal imaging property surveys in Framlingham by visiting 30 properties at different times of the day and night at the end of February. As this was our first attempt at thermal imaging it was a steep learning curve on how to use the camera and what conditions made the images unreliable.

We compiled individual reports in March showing the results and outlining areas of heat loss improvement. These were distributed to each household in April.

We aim to follow up with further visits to answer any more detailed questions on how to reduce wasteful heat emissions and to point out possible grant funding.

These two example of the thermal imaging photos show the hot spots are slightly displaced over the image of the house, but it is still clear where the heat is escaping the most.

Front doors seem to be very poorly insulated in many cases, and in the bungalow image it is clear the loft insulation is poor, and there seems to also be heat loss at ground level.

Hot spots above windows indicate open air vents.
