Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future
After 16 years of action we reformed in 2024 as a voluntary community group with new projects, and new members.
We aim to address issues caused by climate change, biodiversity loss, depletion of resources, and to promote resilience and sustainability initiatives.
Loosely grouped into two main headings:
Emissions Reduction and Resilience
Environment and Biodiversity
Community Engagement
Our projects are initiated and developed by Greener Fram members with the support of local residents. We aim to foster wide participation, long term commitment and ongoing project development.
Helping local residents learn and understand the issues around climate change is key to empowering us all to take steps towards net zero targets wherever possible.
Our Vision and Values
At Greener Fram, we believe in the power of collective action to drive positive change
Our vision is to create a sustainable community that thrives on environmental stewardship, and social responsibility to develop a resilient future for Framlingham.
We are committed to supporting community projects that develop solutions aiming to reduce our carbon footprint, promote renewable energy, and foster biodiversity.
Our values are rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and a deep respect for the natural world.
Meetings Records

Our Journey
Explore the key milestones that have shaped Greener Fram’s journey towards sustainability.
2008 - 2009
Foundation of Greener Fram
Greener Fram was established as a Climate ActionGroup by Barbara Howard and Judy Masters with the goal of developing ways to help people prepare for ‘the inevitable changes to people’s way of lives which will be brought about by increasing energy costs, dwindling oil supplies and the effects of climate change’.
Local design team created a logo including the slogan: “Action for a Positive Future’
Although 16 years ago – it does sound familiar today!
2010 - 2012
Learning & Development
We held a lively program of documentary films and events, and developed a Greener Homes DIY insulation project.
We started a Food Challenge project, and a solar PV bulk buy initiative (very early days for this technology!)
We launched our Community Garden to grow food collectively, providing fresh produce for the Free Food Share Shed.
We also held Transition Courses led by invited speakers to develop expertise and understanding of complex climate issues and potential solutions.
2013 - 2019
Longer Term Projects
We set up monthly Swap & Mend events, provide opportunities for reducing waste to encourage recycling and reuse, and to foster community engagement through craft mending skills.
Working with others locally was also a key part of Greener Fram. Members attended meetings and events of other local groups such as the Greenprint Forum, Community Action Suffolk, the Transition Group, and the Climate Change Partnership.
We helped and supported various other Suffolk projects over the years: the Woodbridge Transition Repair Café, Little Pantry at Woodbridge, and we assisted Greener Rendlesham to setup a Transition Streets Course.
2020 - 2023
Resurgence & Re-boot
A Greener Fram CCAN project (Climate Change Action Now) was started, but had to cease during the COVID Lockdowns.
Resurgence after COVID meant necessary change – Swap & Mend transformed into the Fram Free Recycling group which now thrives on Facebook, and the Fram Community Garden reorganised itself as a separate team of dedicated growers. The Free Food Share Shed was put on hold due to necessary repairs and the need to find a new location.
Trials to restrict mowing to allow grass verges to self seed and feed the bees were co-ordinated with the District Council, followed by sowing and growing wildflowers on a number of grass verges in the town.
